2 February 2026 – Loft announced the formation of a new AI for Space business unit within the company to focus on building scalable, reliable AI-enabled space infrastructure to support agentic and AI-at-the-edge applications. This investment reflects Loft’s long-term commitment to enabling governments and commercial partners to access and deploy algorithms directly on orbit, transforming how insights are generated from space. The AI for Space group will focus on building a network of AI partners to support a marketplace of applications. This also includes a focus on developing and scaling the hardware and operational capabilities required to support real-time AI applications in space. By expanding its infrastructure beyond traditional satellite missions to include AI-enabled systems, Loft is laying the foundation for a new class of space applications across government and commercial sectors.
