27 August 2026 – Arianespace successfully launched the 2nd Meteosat Third Generation Imager satellite, MTG-I2, aboard a dedicated Ariane 62. Building on the long-standing partnership between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), MTG-I2 is part of Europe’s next-generation geostationary meteorological satellite system, delivering enhanced imagery for the early detection of rapidly developing storms, weather forecasting and climate monitoring. Designated VA270, this mission marks Ariane 6’s fourth launch of the year and its first mission to geostationary transfer orbit. Read more
