5 January 2025 – Astroscale Japan Inc., a subsidiary of Astroscale Holdings Inc., the market leader in satellite servicing and long-term orbital sustainability across all orbits, has been awarded an approximately 1 billion yen (tax excluded) contract by the Japan Ministry of Defense to support satellite protection capabilities through the development and ground-based demonstration of a general gripping mechanism system, needed for securely gripping national satellites under a variety of on-orbit conditions.
